Indiana University South Bend Arts and Education Building

Gibson-Lewis, LLC completed this project as a General Contractor, coordinating all aspects of owner/architectural/construction activity which also included a multitude of self performed work. This 120,000 sf project consisted of taking an existing building down to its original structural steel and concrete shell, reusing the remaining portion for LEED credits and creating the new Education and Arts Building for IUSB. Strategies used on this project were environmentally related, which assisted in obtaining LEED certified rating from the USGBC. Along with BIM (Building Information Modeling) coordination, above ceiling mechanical system conflicts were substantially minimized which reduced typical owner charges that are realized on most projects of this nature. Our team managed the challenges well and enhanced original profit expectations. This project has become one of the primary focal points for the University.
